Year 5 Enjoy Island Retreat

Our Year 5 class have just returned from the trip which they will remember for a lifetime. They stayed for three days on the island of Lindisfarne on the trail of St Cuthbert. St Cuthbert, one of the most important saints of medieval England, was guestmaster at the monastery which once stood on our school site 1300 years ago.

As well as a detailed historical look at the life of St Cuthbert and the Lindisfarne Gospels, activities also included a scientific study of rock pool habitats, a boat trip to the farne Islands , a geographical field study of the village, creative writing, art work, and plenty of time for fun and reflection.

Many thanks to Miss Hardy for organising such a memorable trip and to the adults who gave up time away from their own families for the benefit of Cathedral School children.
